AFAC Drone in a Box (DIAB) Presentation

The team at AUAVS recently had the pleasure of hosting attendees of the 2024 AFAC conference at our headquarters in Belrose. During the day attendees where shown our range of capabilities from on the ground ops to our new Drone in a Box (DIAB) solutions.

A part of displaying our capabilities involved a mock search scenario using the DIAB, which was flown remotely from the Remote Operations Centre (ROC). Within this scenario a member of the team was placed into the bushland surrounding the office for the drone and pilot in the ROC to search for – by using thermal imagery and search patterns, the pilot was successfully able to locate the missing team member and guide them back to the office by communicating with them by using the integrated speaker attachment atop of the craft. All of which was livestreamed into the conference room for attendees to see.

AFAC24 Conference - ICC Sydney

AFAC is Australasia’s largest and most comprehensive emergency management conference and exhibition.

This year, members from the SLSNSW UAV, AUAVS UAV and wider Surf Life Saving team attended AFAC to demonstrate our capabilities and enhance our connection to other emergency services.

They shared how our teams are able to enhance emergency response by providing important tools such as real-time surveillance and data capture, aerial support for responders on the ground and how we are able to improve community safety through the use of UAVs.
